Our prices are what they are for a reason, please remember you’re not getting an assembly line/factory mass-made product; you are getting a 100% original and unique item handcrafted individually with care and love! <br/><br/> It’s unfortunate that lately the decoden market has seen an increase in sellers with a lack of business knowledge, who are severely underc<span class="text_exposed_show">utting prices, and a rise in factory-made cases on Ebay for pennies on the dollar; which makes it harder for the rest of us — do we slash our current prices or stick to our personal standards?<br/><br/> Prices are not just pulled out of thin air — it includes the cost of materials, time, effort, packaging, postage, and takes into consideration the pricing of the competition. I put in many hours each day hand-making decoden creations. I purchase all materials out of my own pocket, I place each piece, pearl, & rhinestone by hand, I take hundreds of product photos and edit each of them, I do quality control checks, I carefully package and ship orders, and I keep in contact with customers. This is more than just a hobby for me, it is my job. <br/><br/> I’ve heard it all, from “$50?! This was really disheartening to me because I honestly feel that I have done neither :/<br/><br/>I DO post when people repost pictures of my products without my permission claiming they can remake the case, I DO post how I’m disappointed that I’ve seen several replicas of my designs, and I DO post that my cases are “often imitated, never duplicated.” But that is because I take pride in my work and I <em>have</em> seen others try and copy my ideas piece for piece. I respect everyone else in this business and would <em>never</em> blatantly replicate the work of another decoden crafter and can only hope that others will do the same.<br/><br/>I have been doing decoden since 2010 so I did extensive market research before putting my products out. I made sure to develop a style that was not being made by anyone else at the time. It was only after I had been in business for a year, did I start hearing from my customers and supporters about replicas of my work / people using my pictures; and I eventually began to see them for myself. <br/><br/>Yet I have NEVER singled out any one person or business, I ALWAYS blur out names and have not once told anyone to not follow or not buy from a certain person because they have copied my ideas or used my pictures. I have NEVER reposted anyone’s picture of a case they made that was simply <em>similar</em> to my style and called them out on it, that would be ridiculous! Only people who flat-out take my product photos to use as their own, or people who have copied my design down to the last pearl placement (and I <em>still</em> do not show their names). However I feel like all of this is entirely reasonable for me to be upset about and post about on MY instagram.<br/><br/>I was honestly really taken aback by this. And I’m honestly sorry if any decoden crafter has ever felt that I was rude or inconsiderate to them in any way. I’m not intentionally trying to offend anyone. Sometimes I just need to vent my frustrations since this industry has changed A LOT in the past few years.
